Sawsan El Zahr | University of Oxford
Sawsan is a second year PhD student within the Computing Infrastructure Group at the University of Oxford, UK. She received her B.E. in Electrical Engineering, and M.S. in Computer and Communications Engineering, from the Lebanese American University in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Sawsan's current research centres on reducing the carbon footprint of computer networks, with a focus on carbon emissions, rather than energy consumption alone. Her research combines routing algorithms, power modelling, and net-zero solutions.
Sawsan is a recipient of the Oxford-Qatar-Thatcher scholarship, and a titular Clarendon scholarship. She is also the recipient of the Applied Networking Research Prize (ANRP), issued by the Internet Research Task Force (IRTF), and the Dyson award for outstanding research towards a more sustainable future.
