Gender Equality Principles

The GÉANT Community has developed seven gender equality principles that it wishes organisations involved in the community to endorse. We are inviting each NREN and other affiliated organisations to sign up to and endorse these gender equality principles. By endorsing the principles, your organisation is making a commitment to support the principles in all aspects of its operations and to provide resourcing to both organisational and community efforts in order to meet the intentions of these principles.

We will publish your organisational logo and a supporting statement on the community website to show your commitment. If you would like to keep up to date on disucssions around gender equality, please join our mailing list.

We promote Gender Equality in the recruitment and career development opportunities of our respective organisations.

We promote Gender Diversity in the more technical teams of our respective organisations.

We actively support the requirement of gender auditing in our respective organisations.

Culture

Culture

We support a safe and collaborative culture of inclusive Gender Diversity across our respective organisations, including Gender-Aware training.

Flexible Working

Flexible working

We promote working arrangements within our respective organisations that must include flexible working arrangements and resourcing in order to not just support but encourage the career progression of women.

GÉANT understands the benefits that having a diverse, gender-balanced workplace can bring, including greater innovation and higher productivity. More importantly though, we know it’s the right thing to do; women deserve to have the same opportunities as men and not feel disadvantaged because of their sex. We support the community gender equality principles through our gender equality plan, through the work of our internal gender equality committee and through our commitment to championing gender equality initiatives within the community.
